read, read, read to your children

"My son Isaiah invited me to his classroom to read to his students. I loved every moment of it." -Alaine Strozier

After 19 years of homeschooling I am retiring this summer. I can't believe it is almost finished. I can't believe the Lord called me to educate my children. I did what was asked of me and now, I am almost finished. One of the best times I had with our children was reading to them. We read novels together, we read about missionaries, we read about spiritual warfare, we read books of the Bible, Bible stories, and more. I loved to read to them. I made up different character voices, we pretended like we were a part of the story by acting things out. It was one of the best times I had during my homeschooling career.

Now that Jeremiah is going to be graduating, I won't have anyone to read to. Gabrielle doesn't like me to read to her. She gets up and leaves after the first couple of pages are read (LOL). The last book Jeremiah and I read together was Saving Truth by Abdu Murray. We had great conversation. We learned a lot and our faith was increased.

My son Isaiah invited me to his classroom to read to his students. I loved every moment of it. I captivated their little minds with charisma as I become the character in the book. Since then, I have been invited back to the school to read the same book to the other students in the 3rd grade. What an honor! I get to plant a seed in their heads and hearts. I get to encourage them to find their purpose and follow their dreams. I want to give a special shout out to my friend Kerry, who bought the book I read to the children at my sons school. She bought it for me a few years ago as a gift to remind me to follow my dreams no matter what. Thank you Kerry.

Dear mother, if your children are still at home read to them. Read, read, read. Let them read to you. Read all kinds of books. Read about animals, adventure, science, politics, culture, and on and on. Proverbs 20:15 says, "Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel." When you read to your children, the door will open up for great conversation. When your child communes with you through conversation you can deposit knowledge and wisdom that will be with them forever! Read to your babies momma! Read to your grand babies momma! Read to your neighbors children momma! Read to the children in your child's classroom and pass on the love of Jesus!

Shalom Aleichem
